(01)The problem
With 20 Chrome profiles and dozens of tabs each, memory ran out and context got lost. Most tab managers want an account or read every page, which is a no-go on a work profile.
(02)Approach · key decisions
01
Welcome back, not a blank tab
Opening Chrome shows exactly where you left off, with your groups and sessions ready to restore.
02
Sort and sleep on its own
New tabs land in colour groups (Mail & Chat, Work & Docs, Dev, AI, Jobs and more), and tabs idle for 30 minutes go to sleep.
03
Private by design
No network at all (connect-src 'none'), no host permissions and no content scripts. History and bookmarks are optional permissions, asked for only when used.
(03)What's inside
The build.
- Auto tab groups with editable categories, colours and site patterns
- One-click duplicate closing, saved sessions and a bookmark tidy-up that never touches the originals
- Dashboard with time per category and site, plus a junk-history clean-up
- Theme engine and an in-app What's new for every release
- Playwright end-to-end tests, including a check that no request ever leaves the extension

What I learned
A tool people install on a work profile has to prove what it can't do before it shows what it can.
